Ladle refining furnace (LRF) is an external refining technology to utilize the electric arc heating under vacuum condition. It is normally used to refine the preliminary steel liquid in a specialized ladle.

LRF refines the preliminary smelting steel liquid from EAF, Martin furnace and converter, it is an important metallurgical equipment which can adjust the temperature of steel liquid, process buffering, and can also meet the requirement of continuous casting and rolling. LRF is one of the main equipment of external refining.
